The 16th International Conference on Astronomical X-Ray Optics is held in Prague directly in Villa Lanna.<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Prague, the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic, played a pivotal role in the early development of modern astronomy.<\/strong> In the early 17th century, under the reign of Emperor Rudolf\u202fII, it became the centre of astronomical research in Europe thanks to Tycho Brahe<\/strong> and Johannes Kepler<\/strong>, who lived and worked here. It was in Prague that Kepler formulated his first two laws of planetary motion<\/strong>, based on Brahe\u2019s precise observations. The city\u2019s historic Astronomical Clock (built 1410) and its university, founded in 1348, further reflect Prague\u2019s long-standing tradition of scientific scholarship.<\/p>\n

Over the centuries, Prague continued contributing to scientific progress. Notable figures include Christian Doppler<\/strong>, associated with the Doppler effect, and Franti\u0161ek Nu\u0161l<\/strong>, co-founder of the Czech Astronomical Society<\/strong> and initiator of the observatory in Ond\u0159ejov, which today houses the Czech Republic\u2019s largest optical telescope.<\/p>\n

Today, Prague remains a vibrant centre for astronomy and space science. The Astronomical Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences operates major facilities at Ond\u0159ejov Observatory, and collaborates internationally on cutting\u2011edge missions and telescopic projects.<\/p>\n

Czech space research achieved several milestones\u2014such as the first Czech\u2011built satellite Magion\u20111 in 1978, astronaut Vladim\u00edr Remek becoming the first Czech in space, and more recently, advanced microsatellites.<\/p>\n

The conference venue, Vila Lanna<\/strong>, is a grand Neo\u2011Renaissance villa<\/strong>, built between 1868 and 1872 by industrialist Vojt\u011bch Lanna Jr., with interiors featuring frescoes by Viktor Barvitius and designs by Josef M\u00e1nes (historical sources).<\/p>\n

How to reach the Vila Lanna<\/h1>\n

This route is reliable, affordable, and frequently used by both locals and visitors.<\/p>\n

  1. From Terminal 1 or Terminals 2\u20133<\/strong>, board the trolleybus line 59 <\/strong>(every 3\u201310 minutes) bound for N\u00e1dra\u017e\u00ed Veleslav\u00edn<\/strong> (metro station on Line A).<\/li>\n
  2. At N\u00e1dra\u017e\u00ed Veleslav\u00edn<\/strong>, transfer to green metro Line A<\/strong> and ride for three stops to Hrad\u010dansk\u00e1<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. From Hrad\u010dansk\u00e1<\/strong>, it\u2019s about 500\u202fm on foot<\/strong> (roughly 6\u201310\u202fminutes) to reach Vila Lanna.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Total travel time<\/strong> from airport: about 35\u201340 minutes<\/strong>, including transfer stops;\u00a0 40\u202fCZK<\/strong> for a 90-minute ticket allowing transfers within the network.<\/p>\n

    As a reliable alternative, you may also consider Bolt<\/strong> (via their app – bolt.eu\/en<\/a>) or AAA Taxi Airport transfers<\/strong> at aaataxi.cz\/en\/prague-airport-taxi<\/a>\u2014both are reputable services with upfront pricing.<\/p>\n

    For the journey from the airport to Vila Lanna, the typical fare is around 400\u2013500\u202fCZK, depending on traffic and service used.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
